AB Graphic International has introduced the addition of the VSR vertical slitter inspection rewinder to its Omega range that offers new levels of production at speeds up to 1,312 fpm. The system is designed to meet the demands of inspecting, slitting and rewinding a wide range of label substrates and is available in standard and servo driven versions. The VSR inspection rewinder is available in 330mm (12.9"), 430mm (16.9") and 530mm (20.8") widths to comply with modern press width trends. Options include motorized roll lift, razor and crush slitting, missing label, splice or flag detection and 100 percent print face inspection through a PC based camera system.

A joint venture between J&H and the manufacturer of the equipment, Multiflex of Qingzhou, China, has resulted in a servo press line engineered and designed for the North American market. The Multiflex line of presses is available in a wide variety of widths ranging from 16" to 56". MacDermid Printing Solutions has introduced two new photopolymer printing plates, MVP and Digital MVP. The company says the MVP, a medium durometer plate, has exceptional resilience, allowing for faster press speeds and reduced bounce, resulting in overall higher quality print and increased productivity. Digital MVP delivers all of the benefits of MVP, plus the fine resolution and imaging capability expected from a digital photopolymer plate. MVP and Digital MVP are commercially available in thicknesses from 0.045 in. (1.144mm) to 0.112 in (2.84mm), and in format sizes up to 52 x 80 inches (1,321 x 2,032 mm).
