Novamelt to expand into North America

Novamelt, an adhesive manufacturer based in Wehr, Germany, has announced that it plans to produce and distribute its products in the United States. Founded in 1989, the company has marketed its pressure sensitive adhesive products exclusively within Europe.

The company’s line of PS adhesives is marketed under the brand name Novamelt PS, and its UV curable PS adhesives, made of thermoplastic rubbers, is called Novamelt RC. The company has annual sales of €16 million and 37 employees.

Novamelt’s move into the US is being made in cooperation with Jowat AG, also of Germany. Jowat manufactures industrial adhesives used in wood manufacturing, paper and packaging, and textile and automotive industries. Jowat, which employs more than 600 people, reports 2005 sales of about €140 million.

Construction of the Novamelt-Jowat plant in High Point, NC, is expected to be complete in March.
