New products and a globally positive economic environment led the Gallus Group to sales of CHF 207 million ($167 million) in 2005, according to an announcement by Peter Hauser, board chairman. Gallus, a manufacturer of narrow web presses and screen printing supplies and equipment, is based in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
“The stable economic situation and the excellent level of new product acceptance made 2005 a record year,” he says. Sales rose 11 percent over 2004’s total of CHF 187 million.
Gallus is setting up new facilities for the manufacture of screen printing plates, into which it has invested CHF 12 million ($9.7 million). Starting in 2007, the new production facilities will supply Screeny screen printing plates globally.
In October 2005, the Gallus Group acquired a 30 percent stake in BHS Druck- und Veredelungstechnik, of Weiden, Germany. “This move is intended to accelerate the expansion of the folding carton business by providing reel-fed printing and converting machines as well as diecutters for the economical inline manufacture of folding carton boxes,” Hauser says. “This business will be integrated within the Gallus Group in an autonomous business unit and will supplement the Heidelberg folding carton range in sheetfed offset printing.”
Since 1999, Gallus has been in partnership with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen. Gallus employs 510 people, 300 in Switzerland.
