Codimag announced the installation of a Viva 420 press at Stic’Image, a label printer from the Lyon area in France. The Viva 420 is the newest generation Codimag press. The press is a five-color letterpress with an inline flexo varnish station.
Stic’Image, which was established in 1994, has been a Codimag customer since 1999 when it installed the Viva 340 Letterpress and decided to purchase the Viva 420. “We questioned Codimag a few years ago about the extension of the Viva 340 (13") concept to a Viva 420 (16"). This request was the result of our ongoing attempt to meet our customers’ and the market’s expectations. With the Viva 420 we can increase our productivity with larger width and longer repeats along with new technologies like servo motors,” says Michel Journois from Stic’Image.
The Viva 420 is an economical answer to handle long runs with a 16.5" (420mm) width and an 18" (457mm) maximum repeat in intermittent. The press utilizes servo technology on all printing units. Extended automatic and remote control features, like register or ink density adjustment, can be controlled by the user-friendly central control panel.
The Viva 420 offers the advantage of intermittent technology that features short make ready without having to change cylinders for repeat size changes. Developed first as letterpress, this version was preferred by Stic’Image. “Letterpress printing technology is well adapted to our main markets. Letterpress can compete easily with offset at a lower cost.”
