Four label converters in the USA have been honored with Best Workplaces in America awards, presented annually by Printing Industries of America and Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF). They are Label World, of Rochester, NY; GPA, of Chicago; Tailored Label Products, of Menomonee Falls, WI; and CL&D Graphics, of Oconomowoc, WI.
Of these, Label World has been distinguished by placement in the “Best of the Best” category, an award that was granted to the company also in 2005. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Label World has received a Best Workplaces award. The company, which was acquired last year by Richard Spencer and Kamylon Capital, is the subject of a Narrow Web Profile in the current issue of Label & Narrow Web magazine.
“It’s an honor once again to be recognized by the industry as a company that offers world class workplace practices," says Spencer. "This really shows up in how we perform for our customers.”
Now in its sixth year, the Best Workplaces awards are open to any printing company. Entrants are evaluated in eight human relations areas: management practices, work environment, training and development opportunities, financial security, work/life balance, recognition and rewards, health and wellness programs, and workplace health and safety.
The competition separates companies into size by employees. Label World is in the small company (under 100 employees) category, as are Tailored Label Products and GPA. CL&D is in the large and multi-plant company (251+) category.
