Etiko, a label converter based in Szczecin, Poland, has invested in a new Mark Andy LP3000 flexo press, installed by Mark Andy AG, based in Switzerland. The press is an eight-color 13" (330mm) machine with full UV curing. It joins three Mark Andy Scout presses installed since 2001 mostly for production of thermo labels for the fresh food market.
According to Mark Andy, the new press is fitted with a “Gizmo”, a device for manufacturing multi-layer labels. Etiko plans to use it for production of recipe labels.
Currently working two shifts seven days per week, Etiko has a throughput of more than 400,000 square meters of substrate each month, and is one of the largest label converters in the region. It is close to the border with Germany, which, along with the Czech Republic, accounts for 20 percent of its total sales.
More than 75 percent of the company’s output is still thermo labels, primarily for the supermarkets. The company hopes to broaden its market appeal using the LP3000 to enhance its range of labels.
