For the tenth time, and for the fifth consecutive year, Smyth Companies Inc. has been distinguished with Hormel Foods’ 2006 “Spirit of Excellence” Award for outstanding vendors. Smyth, headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, USA, supplies Hormel with package labels and point-of-purchase displays for many of Hormel’s brands.
The award is given to Hormel suppliers who attain superior rankings in a number of product and service categories, including delivery performance, product quality, customer service, administration, and plant quality audits.
Smyth and Hormel are among the oldest established business entities in Minnesota, and their business relationship dates back to the 1930s. Since then, Smyth has provided Hormel with a variety of printed products, including package labels, commercial printing for internal and external communication pieces, and point-of-purchase displays.
Smyth Companies, established 130 years ago, is one of the largest label producers in the United States. In addition to package labels and point-of-purchase displays, Smyth produces in-pack and on-pack promotional labels, application equipment, and specialty packaging for liquid products. The company employs about 350 people and operates four production facilities in Minnesota, Virginia, and Colorado.
