WS Packaging Group, one of North America's largest label converting and printing companies, plans to construct a $4 million plant in a new business development park in Green Bay, WI, USA. The company will move its headquarters from Algoma, WI, to 5.7 acres in University Heights Business Park, and will be the first company to locate to the new 1,000-acre site.
WS Packaging Group, formed in 2000 by the merger of Wisconsin Label Corporation and Superior Packaging Systems, operates 18 manufacturing plants and 85 sales offices, employs 1,700 people, and has annual sales above $300 million. The Algoma site has been the headquarters since the founding of Wisconsin Label in 1966.
“Even as we have expanded operations throughout North America over the past few years, our Algoma facility has continued to serve as corporate headquarters in addition to being the largest manufacturing plant within the WS Packaging Group. As we have grown, we have now reached the point that we have run out of space in Algoma," says Terry Fulwiler, CEO. "We are truly excited to be the first company to locate our offices in the University Heights Business Park.”
“WS Packaging is a solid company with a great future,” says Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt. “A company of their caliber is a great asset for the Greater Green Bay area. In a competitive national market, it’s imperative that we keep our national companies located right here in Wisconsin.”
According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the land sale agreement will go before the city’s Economic Development Authority to receive initial approval before it goes to the City Council for final approval in August.
