More than 24,000 label industry professionals are expected to pack the five exposition halls for Labelexpo Europe 2007, which opened Wednesday in Brussels. Tarsus, the show organizer, announced that this year’s show is the largest ever.
This year 500 exhibitors present their products and services to the industry. A growing contingent of Asian companies are among the newcomers. Two years ago 14 Asian companies exhibited at Labelexpo. This year there are 30. Among attendees, more than 250 are label printers.
In the opening presentation on Wednesday morning, Mike Fairley, one of the show’s founders, gave an overview of the label markets in Europe and elsewhere. "Pressure sensitive use has risen 86 percent over the past 10 years," he said. In addition, non-paper label stock use has gone up nearly 30 percent per year. Label industry growth in Europe, Fairley said, “is set to outpace North America within a year.”
