John Thome, general manager of BST Pro Mark, says, “Flexo training facilities such as DFI play a vital role in our industry. BST Pro Mark is grateful to be able to give back in some small but meaningful way, through our support.”
The inspection system features a compact camera with a 4" x 3" image size and 40X magnification, which, according to DFI President Vince Ditrolio, “allows us to use it both as an inspection system and as a real time teaching device. We can magnify and freeze images of the actual print at any time using the Powerscope, and then spend time with the students explaining causes, effects and corrective actions. It is just as powerful a teaching tool as an inspection tool.”
DFI’s 2,700 square-foot flexographic training facility is located in a western suburb of Chicago. Equipment at the facility includes an 830 Mark Andy three-color press, a four-color Webtron, a five-color 13" Propheteer with DMS hot stamping and Prime UV units on four print stations, Anderson & Vreeland plate making equipment, an Air Trim waste removal system, a BST Pro Mark web inspection system, RotoMetrics dies, Action Rotary dies, a Harper proofing system, and anilox rolls.
