Clemson says this hands-on, laptop based workshop is an opportunity to understand how VDP can enhance a company’s advertising reach, increase a marketer’s return on direct mail dollars or optimize a printer’s digital press capabilities with this value added approach to printing. Clemson University Graphic Communications Professor John Leininger, co-founder of the VDP Hands-on Training Consortium and veteran of over 200 national seminars and conferences, will conduct the program.
Attendees will be immersed in all aspects of VDP from database management and postal requirements to current VDP design software and creative techniques to build a powerful and effective personalized marketing piece. “With today’s software options and digital devices, printers can certainly change photos, illustrations and text on every piece and every page in the press run,” says Leininger, “but the real key to effective personalization is understanding the power of database management in the overall design.”
According to Clemson, the training is ideal for people new to VDP including graphic designers and sales staff as well as prepress and production managers, database managers, mailing houses, and companies with new digital presses that want to expand their markets.
The workshop is supported by VDP Consortium members who contributed laptop computers and software for this national training project. Member companies include Atlas Software, Canon, Kodak, EFI, Heidelberg/NexPress, Hewlett-Packard, Pageflex, Xeikon, Xerox, and XMPie.
