Penmar Industries, a Hispanic-owned label converter in Norwalk, CT, USA, has been awarded certification as a Small Disadvantaged Business under US Small Business Administration guidelines.

Penmar Industries, a Hispanic-owned label converter in Norwalk, CT, USA, has been awarded certification as a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) under US Small Business Administration (SBA) guidelines. The SBA certifies small businesses that meet specific economic, ownership, and control eligibility criteria making them eligible to participate in the SDB Program.

According to Tony Soegaard, Penmar’s president, the certification gives him the opportunity to secure more business from OEM contractors who do business with the US government. “Our business is poised for growth, and being a certified SDB provides us with the opportunity to compete for procurement bids, and significantly increases our ability to achieve our 2008 business goals,” he says.

In 2006 and 2007, Penmar was honored by DiversityBusiness.com, also based in Connecticut, as a top state multicultural business in the organization's Div50 Awards competition. In 2006 the company won silver and bronze awards from the International Gallery of Superb Printing, from which it had also won awards in 1997, 2000, 2001, and 2005.
