Citing unprecedented cost pressure for raw materials, energy and transportation, Loparex LLC, Willowbrook, IL, USA, announced this week that it will implement price increases for its entire line of paper, film and polycoated products, effective May 5, 2008. Loparex is a global manufacturer of release liners.

The price increase is for all Loparex products made in the USA and shipped to customers in North America and other continents. Increases will vary according to product, a company spokesperson says.

According to a statement issued by Steve Saunders, director of marketing for Loparex, several factors have contributed to the company’s decision to raise prices, including further weakness in the US dollar, tight availability for paper pulp and polyester films, a significant increase in the price of platinum, increased prices of extrusion grade polyolefin resins, and overall higher fuel and energy prices.
