3 Sigma introduces a water-dissolvable labelstock

October 7, 2008

The environmentally benign adhesive is married to a 40-pound paper.

3 Sigma, a supplier of pressure sensitive and other materials to the label industry, has announced the availability of a new water-dissolvable labelstock. The product consists of a 40-pound supercalendered paper and WD-1 adhesive, both of which dissolve quickly and wash away in room temperature water. The new stock is suited for marking and identifying food trays, water toys, sports equipment, watercraft, or returnable containers.
“Many manufacturers and end users seek a temporary label product that is environmentally benign and can be easily removed,” says 3 Sigma Product Development Manager Paul Benson. “This labelstock has great potential for new and innovative applications, and was enthusiastically received by label producers during beta testing.”
