Discovery 2008, an open house organized by SMAG every two years, took place at the company’s Savigny sur Orge factory in France during three days in November. The company, which manufactures and distributes a wide range of printing and converting equipment, reports that 218 people representing 83 companies attended the event. In addition, 19 supplier partners participated.
The theme this year was “Environment Protection in the Label World.” SMAG focused on sustainable development with five daily conferences on environment protection, a communication policy based on recycling with furniture made of recycled cardboard, a bio lunch buffet, and machine documentation. On the final day the French Minister for Ecology, Nathalie Kosciusko Morizet, attended the event.
Machines on exhibit included the Aquaflex 330mm ELS servo driven flexo press; the Iwasaki wet offset press; the SMAG Digital Galaxie digital finishing machine; SMAG’s C4R slitter rewinder equipped with AVT’s Helios inspection system; and other SMAG equipment for converting and finishing labels.
