The Flexographic Pre-Press Platemakers Association (FPPA) has challenged its members to improve sustainability. The challenge was put forth at the group’s annual convention in March. The newly inducted president and board members will focus on improving green procedures in 2009. As defined by the FPPA’s Sustainability Vision Statement, sustainable practices are “supporting innovating manufacturing technologies and practices that promote environmental and economic health.”
The association’s Sustainability Achievement Award was presented to Mark/Trèce Inc. The company is pursuing sustainability initiatives such as recycling sheet polymer and PVC material. “We are honored to receive the first sustainability award presented by the FPPA,” says Lee Grantham, VP for Mark/Trèce. “We look forward to doing our part in representing our industry in keeping the planet green.”
Neil Saunders, FPPA’s past president, introduced Peter C. Cappas of United Engravers as president for the year ahead. United Engravers is a designer and manufacturer of printing plates for the corrugated and flexible packaging industries.
