The Klöckner Pentaplast Group, a producer of rigid polyester films, has added new polyester production capacity at the company’s Rural Retreat, VA, USA, manufacturing facility. The new line will increase capacity for high performance polyester films to support growth in full-body shrink label, general purpose thermoforming, medical device, and all-plastic box packaging applications. Klöckner Pentaplast invested $4.9 million (€3.6 million) for the expansion.
“This polyester capacity expansion will enable us to continue to support our customers’ growing global demand for high quality polyester packaging films, especially in the US,” says Michael Tubridy, president and COO, Klöckner Pentaplast/Americas. “In addition, the added capacity will allow us to further enhance new product development capabilities.”
Klöckner Pentaplast produces films for pharmaceutical, medical device, food, electronics, and general-purpose thermoform packaging, as well as printing and specialty applications. Founded in 1965 in Montabaur, Germany, the company has 19 production operations in 11 countries. Owned by The Blackstone Group, Klöckner Pentaplast has sales of more than $1.6 billion (€1.1 billion) and employs more than 3,200 people.
