Gallus, St. Gallen, Switzerland, a global developer, producer and seller of narrow web label presses, has reported strong growth in 2011. In spite of the uncertain economic climate and a clear decline in demand during the second half of 2011, Gallus reports the volume of their label business was slightly above that of the preceding year.
According to the company, development of its sales and service presence in developing countries – in addition to enhancements on the Gallus ECS 340 - played large roles in the company’s growth. The ECS 340 was the first in in the industry to use technical granite as the carrier material for the printing and processing units. Gallus says that additional innovations enable considerable productivity gains in the production of commodity labels.
The company says its significant expansion in its folding carton business unit was due to orders received in 2010, and to the first installation of the Gallus ICS 670. The ICS 670 is an inline printing press concept that permits various printing and finishing processes and allows the manufacture of blanks from the cardboard roll in a single pass. Gallus will exhibit the ICS 670 with further improvements and expansion possibilities at drupa 2012.
