Maxime Bayzelon, vice president of ETI Converting, has announced the launch of what he calls the first high-speed hotmelt clean edge pattern adhesive unit. Developed by ETI, this patent-pending unit can be retrofitted onto any existing Cohesio.
After the release of an acrylic adhesive pattern unit two years ago, ETI decided to add to its list of technology options. This new system allows variable repeat from 16” to 24” with automatic register and accurate pre-register to minimize the waste. Another characteristic of this unit is to allow full web coating at 400 FPM with accurate coat weight control.
"Until now, the pattern hotmelt process was unusable at high speed," Bayzelon says. "All edges were not clean due to the nature of the hotmelt. With this new unit, the quality of printing edges without filamentous burr and the speed of the unit provide the label makers with new opportunities: adhesive spots, coupons and special adhesive forms, including laser sheets."
A few units have already been sold in Japan, Germany and France.
