Hooven-Dayton Corporation (HDC) received the Gold Award for Printing Excellence, in the Flexographic Printing category, from the Printing Industries of Northern Kentucky/Ohio (PIANKO). The winning entry was an Oral-B Complete label that HDC printed for P&G. This 6-color job was particularly challenging due to the fine detail and very tight registration necessary to execute the label.
This regional winner will go on to represent the Southwest Printing Region and compete (for Best in Category and Best in Show) in August 2013 at the Printing Industries of America's Grand Ceremony in Columbus Ohio. HDC submitted five entries to the regional competition and took home awards on all five. In addition to the Gold Award, HDC was awarded three Silver Awards in the Tags, Label and Decals categories; and one Silver Award in the Flexographic Printing category.
"We proudly share these honors with our customers. These awards are particularly gratifying for HDC this year. In 2012 we moved our two Dayton-based printing plants into one larger facility to give us room for continued growth. This move was an enormous undertaking with many logistical challenges. Our team continually proved themselves by pulling together to ensure HDC continued to provide the highest quality products and services to our customers. I can't thank our team enough for their hard work and continued dedication," says Kim Wright, HDC's Chief Operating Officer.
PIANKO's annual Print Excellence Awards Dinner was held Saturday, January 26. This event recognizes Ohio and Northern Kentucky printers who demonstrate excellence in 34 categories. All entries were critically judged by three out-of-state officials, "This year's judging panel collectively spans more than 100 years of printing experience and they were all extremely impressed with our association's incredible variety of work and production excellence," explains the association president, Jim Cunningham.
