Gallus Group has announced that is achieved a "satisfactory volume of sales" in 2012, with a turnover of $203 million USD (193 million CHF).
"The debt and banking crisis had its effect on demand from customers in the industrialized countries in 2012," the company says. "However, the business performance in developing and emerging countries was good, despite their slowing economies. Gallus achieved a satisfactory volume of sales in this environment with a turnover of CHF 193 million. The label business showed slight growth, while the general economic situation had a bigger effect on the more project-based folding box business."
Gallus has also announced that, after working for 20 years for the Gallus Group, current Chairman of the Board Peter Hauser has reached retirement age and has stepped down. The Board of Directors has elected Stephan Plenz, already a member of the Board of Directors, to be the new chairman. Klaus Bachstein was has been elected to the Board of Directors and will become delegate of the Board. By making these personnel changes, Gallus says that the Board is ensuring continuity in its management.
In other personnel news, on February 1, Georg Riescher was appointed head of research and development for the Label Business of Gallus. In his previous position, Riescher was head of newspaper production systems at a leading European web press manufacturer and prior to that he was head of the management team for more than ten years at a German manufacturing site of the same company.
In addition to a degree in mechanical engineering and a solid qualification in business administration, Riescher has decades of experience in engineering and research and development in the international print media industry.
