Schreiner MediPharm will showcase several of its most recent labeling products at Pharmapack NA (booth #526), June 18-19 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. The company also will be raising awareness of a European Union Council Directive concerning needlestick prevention in the hospital and healthcare sector.
First announced in 2010, EU Council Directive 2010/32/EU was enacted by EU member states on May 11, 2013. To help US pharma manufacturers doing business in Europe comply with this directive, Schreiner MediPharm offers Needle-Trap, which meets the EU Council’s upgraded protection mandates via a safety mechanism integrated as a component of its self-adhesive syringe label. Similar safety measures against sharps injuries demanded by the FDA and NIOSH already have been in place in the U.S. for several years.
Other products that Schreiner MediPharm will showcase at Pharmapack NA include:
• Pharma-Comb Security - Earlier this spring, Schreiner MediPharm introduced its new Pharma-Comb Security peel-off label, which offers a multi-level security system that can be customized to suit the specific requirements of pharmaceutical manufacturers. Equipped with integrated security features, the new Pharma-Comb label combines overt features such as holograms, color-shifting security inks and guilloche patterns with more covert elements, including certain voiding effects and LaserSecure - a sophisticated method incorporating special pigments that only becomes visible via a dedicated hand-held reading device. The combination can be tailored to specific manufacturer requirements, resulting in customized authenticity protection for pharmaceuticals.
• Pharma-Tac Plus - Schreiner MediPharm’s Pharma-Tac Plus is a label for infusion bottles that allows ample space for pertinent information, helps ensure reliable documentation, and easily hangs to assist bedside caregivers. The label uses a multi-layered design to allow sufficient room for detailed product descriptions while offering key value-added benefits that help streamline and simplify the administrative processes of intravenous infusions. Upon opening the label’s top layer, additional data such as current and expiration dates can be entered by hand; this is especially important when the contents of infusion bottles are only usable for a certain period of time once removed from cold storage, as is the case, for instance, with blood plasma infusions.
• Specialty labels for autoinjectors - Schreiner MediPharm’s customizable Autoinjector-Labels can be designed to fit the specific requirements of individual manufacturers, performing important, often unique functions that provide added value to both drug manufacturers and end-users. For example, the label could feature a two-layered design where the upper layer provides UV protection for the window underneath. To check the contents of the autoinjector, the label can be opened by means of a tab and then be closed with ease. A temperature indicator can also be integrated, which produces a reversible color shift showing when a defined room or cooling temperature has been reached.
