Label Arts acquired by investment firm

October 16, 2013

The Texas-based converter specializes in medical and industrial labels.

Label Arts LLC has been acquired by Field Ventures LLC., a private investment firm based in Northbrook, IL, USA.

The label converter, based in Kemp, TX, USA, makes a range of label products, including preprinted, blank, RFID and custom labels, along with hardware used in a wide variety of settings and applications.

Label Arts specializes in medical and industrial labels, manufacturing products used in settings such as laboratories and hospitals, warehouses and distribution centers for healthcare and industrial uses.

Blaige & Co., based in Chicago, IL, advised Label Arts on the sale. CEO Thomas Blaige emphasizes the growing consolidation trend in the label industry. He comments: “Blaige & Co. research estimates that 52 percent of the top 50 US label converters have merged or been sold since 2001 due to a long-term consolidation trend. Label converters with less than $250 million in sales are gradually losing market share to their stronger competitors and must consider aggressive M&A strategies, including strategic acquisitions and selective divestitures.”

Field Ventures was founded by Larry Field, former owner and CEO of Field Container Co.
