IST METZ has won two awards at PrintStars 2013 for the packaging that it presented at its June in-house trade fair, UV Days in Nuertingen.
At UV Days, IST Metz presented the prize-winning packaging as an example of "the printed product of the future." The packaging is decorated with high-class varnish effects that have been achieved via sheet-fed offset and inkjet printing. An inline embossing additionally creates the special haptic. The printed product is complemented by an app with which you can see a 3D animation on a smartphone or tablet PC that shows how to transform the packaging into an ambient light.
At Print Stars 2013, the packaging was nominated in two categories and won both: on the one hand the special award for “Print Gimmick of the Year,” on the other hand the Silver Award in the category “Cross-media linkage print/online." On October 16th, the award ceremony Print Night took place in Stuttgart.
Dirk Jägers, managing director of IST METZ, says he is proud of the awards. “With the UV DAYS packaging, we not only wanted to show the possibilities UV technology offers, but also an overall concept of print and online elements. Both awards are a wonderful feedback for us from the printing industry.”
Prizes have been awarded in 25 categories in total. More than 900 brand owners, print shops, agencies, photographic studios, publishers, pre-press and print finishing companies took part in the competition. A jury of 22 experts from the printing industry chose the winners.
