Futek installs Colordyne 1600-PC digital press

November 7, 2013

The press was installed in mid-October and the Neenah, WI, USA-based manufacturer says it is "thrilled" with its performance.

Futek Forms, Tags & Labels, Inc. installed a Colordyne Technologies (CDT) 1600-PC Laser Pro digital label and tag printing press in mid-October. The company says was looking to maintain its forward-looking, technologically contemporary business by investing in a press that could keep up with large production runs under tight production schedules.

"After spending a considerable amount of time researching all the other digital presses currently on the market, we found the Colordyne press suited our needs the best with its easy set-up, low running costs and fast run speeds, allowing us the capabilities to get jobs out the door quicker," says Futek president Fred Elhami.

The CDT 1600-PC Laser Pro allows users to save time with its fully equipped in-line digital printing, UV varnishing, laminating and laser die-cutting capabilities. The press offers the best in digital efficiency and cost effectiveness, the company says. Touted as having the combination of the highest resolution (1600 x 1200 dpi), fastest speeds (160 fpm) and lowest capital cost in the industry, the Laser Pro is the "complete turnkey digital printing solution." Memjet technology allows for resolution using 1.2 pico liter ink droplets-the smallest in the industry.

"Being able to incorporate flexo stations on the press was an absolute thrill to us," says Elhami. "Colordyne is light-years ahead of the market and we are ecstatic to be a part of this pioneering adventure into the future with them."

"The Laser Pro's inline laser die-cutting capabilities have streamlined Futek's manufacturing processes, saving them time and money while enabling them to stay ahead of their competition," says Emily Kroll, senior global account executive at CDT. "They no longer need to hassle with changing rotary dies and cylinders or completing their finishing off-line. The digital efficiencies that this press presents are unparalleled."
