The Converting Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) division of the Association of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) has scheduled its CEMA Seminars & Expo, April 7-9, 2014, at the Hilton Woodcliff Lake in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, USA.

The conference offers a choice between two concurrent programs: Web Coating & Drying Fundamentals and Web Slitting & Rewinding Fundamentals. Expert instructors provide real-world tips for improving productivity, reducing downtime and waste, and increasing yield and throughput.

The Web Coating & Drying Fundamentals Seminar covers web coating from unwind to rewind. Topics include substrate cleaning, treatment options, coating methods, defect management, drying methods, winding, rollers, static control, surface inspection, online coating weight management, and web guiding and tension.

The Web Slitting & Rewinding Fundamentals Seminar covers best practices for winding, slitting, splicing and guiding of continuous flexible materials such as paper, film and nonwovens. Topics include slitter-rewinder specifications, web wrinkling and spreading, static control, trim removal, core/safety chucks, and web guiding and tension.

The CEMA Seminars & Expo opens at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014, with a TableTop Expo and Reception, which is repeated on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. The two-day Expo portion of the program provides ample opportunities for seminar participants and Expo visitors to discuss technology one-on-one with converting industry vendors. Seminar registration is not required to participate in the Expo as an exhibitor or visitor. Online registration for each seminar (includes Expo Pass) or for the Expo alone, either as an exhibitor or visitor, is available at www.cema-converting.org.
