AIMCAL has announced that it now offers four of its Converting School courses on-line as well as “live.” On-line participants may access Adhesion and Adhesives for Converters; Web Handling and Converting; Winding: Machines, Mechanics and Measurements; or Web Slitting Technology from their computer at work or at home.
“During 2014 the on-line offerings will be expanded to include three more courses: Drives for Web Handling and Converting; Optimizing Extrusion-Based Lamination and Coating Technology; and Solution Preparation and Mixing,” says Craig Sheppard, executive director of AIMCAL. “The on-line option allows participants to take the class from their office or home and gain the educational benefits while eliminating travel time and expenses. The on-line subscription also allows students to work at their own pace since it provides access to the coursework for up to 90 days.”
Each on-line course covers the same material as the on-site Converting School class and is divided into modules lasting 60-90 minutes. Each module contains a video and a test. At the end of each module, students have the option to take the test. If passing grades are received, students earn an “AIMCAL Certificate of Achievement,” certifying they passed the course.
A subscription to an on-line course costs the same as its on-site equivalent. Registration for on-line courses is available at www.convertingschool.com/online-courses.aspx.
For students who prefer the “live” experience, all four courses currently available on-line will be held in at least two locations during 2014. Adhesion and Adhesives for Converters, taught by Professor Steven Abbott, is scheduled twice, May 6-7, 2014, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and October 7-8, 2014, in Brussels, Belgium. Web Handling and Converting, taught by Dr. David Roisum, is scheduled three times: February 25-26, 2014, in Chicago, Illinois; September 9-10, 2014, in Brussels; and November 4-5, 2014, in Charlotte. It’s followed by Roisum’s Winding: Machines, Mechanics and Measurements on February 27-28, 2014, in Chicago; September 11-12, 2014, in Brussels; and November 6-7, 2014, in Charlotte. Web Slitting Technology, taught by David Rumson, is scheduled twice: May 8-9, 2014, in Charlotte and October 9-10, 2014, in Brussels. Registration information for all 15 on-site courses on the 2014 AIMCAL Converting School schedule is available at www.convertingschool.com/courses.aspx.
