March 13, 2014

The new Xaar 1002 GS6 can reliably print heavily pigmented high opacity white inks and high viscosity varnishes.

Xaar has announced the launch of the new Xaar 1002 GS6 for UV applications. This next generation printhead, according to Xaar, "redefines the standard in single-pass printing, delivering exceptional print quality and productivity to manufacturers worldwide."

The Xaar 1002 GS6 has been developed and optimized for a wide range of UV applications; these include labels, laminates, direct-to-shape, packaging and other types of product decoration, where product quality and industrial levels of reliability are paramount.

The all new Xaar 1002 GS6 incorporates multiple new technology features, drawing on Xaar’s many years’ experience in a number of industry sectors, giving improved drop volume uniformity and drop placement accuracy for an even higher quality printed image. Featuring 1000 Optimised Geometry nozzles, the Xaar 1002 GS6 can jet and place drops with the highest precision on the market. As a result this new printhead produces high resolution text and images with smooth tones demanded by manufacturers globally.

A key feature of the All New Xaar 1002 is its ability to print heavily pigmented high opacity white inks and high viscosity varnishes extremely reliably, enabled by Xaar’s patented ink recirculation technology, TF Technology. Therefore it is the ideal printhead for a wide range of UV applications including labels and printing onto clear packaging for bottles, where opaque backup whites and high build spot varnishes are essential.

The Xaar 1002 GS6 is a versatile printhead. It is capable of handling a wide range of fluids and viscosity ranges and is backwards compatible with the Xaar 1001 GS6. Also available alongside the Xaar 1002 GS6 is a range of systems components – including the new slimline HPC3, the XUSB and Xaar Hydra. These have been designed for easy configuration, optimisation and integration to reduce time to market. In addition, the improved uniformity of the Xaar 1002 GS6 allows manufacturers to configure narrow web and wide-format printers faster and more easily. Finally, as the Xaar 1002 GS6 is fully compatible with Xaar 1001 GS6-enabled printers, users can easily upgrade whenever they wish and experience the benefits immediately.

“The original Xaar 1001 GS6 with its unique recirculating TF Technology kick-started the digital inkjet revolution in the label, direct-to-shape and laminate sectors. The All New Xaar 1002 GS6, incorporating the very latest patented technology, defines the next generation of printhead, setting the levels of quality and performance available to manufacturers in a variety of industries,” says Richard Barham, sales and marketing director, Xaar. “Our commitment to investing 12% of our revenue in R&D means that we will continue to deliver the very best inkjet technology to manufacturers globally, ensuring they benefit from a competitive advantage and a maximum return on their investment.”

Systems featuring the Xaar 1002 GS6 printhead are available now from a number of OEMs including Autobond, Durst, EFI, FFEI, Hymmen, INX Digital, KHS, Krones, Sacmi, SPG Prints and Till Engineering.
