The companies will jointly develop smart sensing products integrated in passive RFID.

SMARTRAC, a developer, manufacturer and supplier of RFID and NFC products has announced its cooperation with sensor specialist RFMicron. The goal is to jointly develop smart sensing products integrated in passive RFID, which enables affordable and robust sensor technology without battery lifetime worries.

Both companies are already working on spearhead projects within industrial automation and the construction industry. Primary joint efforts aim at allowing moisture and pressure sensing integrated into RFID. Further projects are in planning stages.

“RFMicron is pleased to be collaborating with SMARTRAC in defining and developing solutions for smart passive sensing. Our Magnus S single chip sensor IC combined with SMARTRAC’s world class engineering, marketing and production capabilities will accelerate the volume deployment of this emerging market, providing high resolution embedded sensing capabilities never seen before,” says Shahriar Rokhsaz, president and CEO, RFMicron.

“Whenever RFID faces difficult environmental conditions, you certainly need innovative solutions you can rely on. RFMicron is the perfect partner as they have a profound background in proven moisture and pressure sensor design,” says Samuli Strömberg, VP Global Segment Development Industry, SMARTRAC.
