Benton Graphics has announced the Ultimeter, a longer-life doctor blade made from exclusive Microloy steel.
Ultimeter was developed to deliver high performance without the high price, the company says. According to Benton Graphics, testing proves conventional doctor blade steels wear out as much as 57% faster than Ultimeter. Microloy steel, used in all Ultimeter blades, is custom engineered specifically for higher wear resistance and better performance. "This is achieved by using raw material with carefully controlled micro-alloying, ultraclean chemistry and ultrafine grain size," the company says.
Benton Graphics says Ultimeter advantages include:
• precisely metered distribution of ink across the cylinder
• superior wear resistance without sacrificing the life of the roll or cylinder
• wide range of edge configurations
• works particularly well with a wide array of inks: white, metallic and other abrasive inks.
• provides longer press runs.
