In 2012, Trident North America invested in MacDermid’s LUX plate processing technology to deliver higher quality and more consistent flexographic print. Two years after the installation of the LUX Plate Processing System in its premedia operation in Mississauga, Ontario, Trident is using this technology on over 80% of its orders.
“LUX technology delivers a consistent flat-top dot solution, as evident in the positive feedback from our CPG customers who are seeing that improvement in quality,” says Edward Broadhurst, director of manufacturing at Trident.
The LUX platemaking process is a simple and easy-to-use technology that produces flat-top dots on flexo printing plates, thereby enabling printers to substantially improve their print quality and consistency. This makes flexo more competitive against digital, gravure and offset printing processes.
“Our mission is to provide our customers with compelling, consistent brand execution, and LUX is one piece of the puzzle that helps us to better deliver on that promise, through high-quality and consistent print,” adds Mark Sherman, production manager at Trident Toronto. “LUX is the only flat-top dot solution that allows for an engineered plate surface to reduce mottle and improve solid ink density.”
To date, more than 200 LUX installations have taken place worldwide.
