Plasma Coatings, a division of American Roller, has announced the signing of Thermaspray (PTY), a new international licensee in South Africa.
Located in Olifantstein (Clayville), which is between Pretoria and Johannesburg, Thermaspray is housed in a 24,000 square-foot custom-built facility. The company offers a range of thermal spray coating services, such as thermal spraying, Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) cladding/welding, finishing, grinding, machining and burnishing.
“We could not be happier about this new partnership with Thermaspray,” says Gary Carlo, director of applications for Plasma Coatings. “With their grinding capacity, both in house and on-site, the company is a very strong player providing wear-and corrosion-resistant coatings, as well as specialized welding services.”
Thermaspray is a Sulzer approved spray shop and an Eskom level 1 certified company for thermal spray coatings and PTA cladding. PTA compliments the thermal coating process and is able to apply advanced weld hard facing using the PTA process as one of its specialty services to customers throughout South Africa.
According to Thermaspray, it is the only thermal spray job shop in South Africa that complies with the Department of Environmental Affairs’ Clean Air Act, which came into effect in 2010. It is also ISO 9001:2008 certified.
“We have high expectations for their ability to be successful in the converting and packaging markets,” says John Meggers, international sales director for Plasma Coatings. “They are an excellent addition to the company’s roster of nine international licensees filling a strategic block for our group.”
