Spinnaker Coating, a manufacturer of pressure sensitive paper and film products for the printing industry, has added three constructions to its line that are designed for printing in water-based inkjet digital presses.
Satin Matte Ink Jet Paper (#45772) and Gloss Ink Jet Paper (#45773) are both paired with an all-temperature adhesive, which offers versatility in application options, including cold temperature labeling. These papers excel at producing color graphics and sharp text, with wet-rub resistance and good ink adhesion.
“As converters continue to invest in digital equipment, we know having the appropriate material is a key component to success,” says Joel Ulrich, digital market manager. “These three stocks for water-based inkjet commercial presses offer converters reliable products for their digital printing portfolio.”
A film option for labeling durable goods, 5.0 mil Matte White Inkjet Polypropylene (#45696) is available with PDL-55, a general-purpose permanent adhesive. It boasts a 12-month outdoor life and is suitable for metal, plastics, and other durable container applications, even with moisture present. Application uses are drum and barrel labels; pails, totes, and chemical containers; outdoor ID labels; and horticultural, agricultural, and farm labels.
It is BS 5609 Part 2 and 3 certifiable (with the appropriate inks). While designed for commercial water-based inkjet printing, it also accepts thermal transfer print for end-user variable information, such as serial numbers or dates.
“Initial feedback from customers on these products has been positive,” adds Ulrich. “Digital press brands, including Colordyne, Trojan Color Systems and Primera have produced commercial labels with high-quality results for digital press owners.”
All three water-based ink jet constructions are available Trimless with a minimum of one roll 3” x 5,000’, which coordinates with the short-run nature of the digital market.
