Paterson, NJ-based tag and label manufacturer Promotional Graphics has announced the launch of its new division, ESD Label Solutions, which is wholly dedicated to Anti-Static "ESD" (electrostatic discharge) labels to serve the circuit board and electronics manufacturing markets.
"After a decade of servicing the ESD label market, we have decided to take our experience and launch a division dedicated entirely to the ESD market," says Rodney Dopp, vice president of Promotional Graphics and leader of its new division.
According to Dopp, Promotional Graphics has been in the electro-static dissipative label market for a long time and saw immense potential to grow in that specific industry. ESD Label Solutions has been established for the purpose of conquering the unique challenges and technical aspects that exist within the market so its parent company can better serve its customers who need label solutions for their static-free environments.
The company's ESD labels are designed to eradicate the risk of electrostatic discharge, which can cause severe damage during production, label application and all throughout the label's lifespan. The utilization of these labels can cut the cost of issues that manufacturers face while creating and distributing computers and other electronic devices.
A regular label can emanate up to 5,000 volts when peeled from its liner, which can damage circuit boards and computer components. Static can even accumulate on the plastic coating over time. ESD labels have a peel voltage under 100 volts and will prevent static build-up due to their static dissipative surfaces. They can be made with ESD polyester and ESD polyimide materials depending on preference. They are each capable of surviving high temperatures, but the polyimide option comes in several colors and can withstand much more heat as well as abrasive chemicals. Both materials are thermal transfer printable and are available in any size.
