Smyth Companies LLC is expanding at its Bedford County, Virginia facility. The label company has announced it is investing more than $4.6 million in new sheetfed offset printing equipment, which will be installed in the coming months.
The move is expected to add a minimum of 16 full-time jobs over the next three years.
Bedford was selected for the expansion because it is the company’s biggest facility. “The corporate office decided to put the press in Bedford, Virginia because the employee base we have here. We have great employees that do a great job with new technology so what better place to put it than Bedford, Virginia?” said Ryan Allison, vice president of operations for Smyth.
The Bedford County Economic Development Authority will help the company under a $25,000 grant as part of a performance agreement. The investment will give the company a greater capacity to grow its production and improve efficiencies.
