Southern Tape & Label, a converter in Cocoa, FL, USA, installed a Rotary Technologies’ TCC 3300 digital diecutter earlier this year and has been converting labels printed on its two Jetrion presses. The success prompted the move to run the TCC 3300 inline with its Jetrion 4900 to print and convert labels in a single pass.
“The inline capability with the TCC 3300 and a digital press is a standard feature. It allows our customers to choose which is best for them, convert inline or offline. Since that decision can be made on the fly it can become job specific,” says Joe Nicholson, Rotary Technologies.
“We’re currently evaluating our work flow to determine which is the best way to use the TCC 3300, but that’s what makes it great - we can go back and forth between inline mode and standalone mode with a button push,” explains Bob Ramsey, Southern Tape & Label, adding, “The TCC 3300 sets up so quickly, we need more testing to see if there is a minimum run length to determine which mode is best to use.”
Adds Nicholson, “Inline or offline converting has been a talking point for awhile. Its been our goal to provide our customers both with a single machine. Is it worth the extra few minutes of set up at press to convert inline? Perhaps it’s the fastest way to the shipping department."
