At its headquarters in Belgium, the digital press maker hosted both printers and print buyers for three days of education and demonstrations.
A demo of the Xeikon 3300 showed the power of Vectorizor, an add-on for Xeikon’s digital front-end that drives a one-pass laser diecutter.
Live printing of paper cups on a special substrate from Stora Enso.
For finishing, Xeikon partner AB Graphic showed its Digicon Series 2 with hot foil embossing, a lamination station and screen printing.
At the event, a Xeikon 3000 Series press equipped with ICE CMYK and opaque white toner printed label designs in roll-to-roll mode for thin-walled and thick-walled in-mold applications.
A label for a thin-walled container – a butter tub with matching cover – printed in CMYK on EUH 70, a cavitated film produced by Treofan; and a label for a thick-walled plastic container – a two-liter bucket for Clicks Toys – printed in CMYK and opaque white on ETR 57, a transparent solid film from Treofan.
The Xeikon 3500 is the flagship wide web press of the Xeikon 3000 Series. It is meant for label and packaging converters who need a wider web width as well as top speeds for the production of their prime label, folding carton, promotional and transfer applications.
The Xeikon Cafe allowed ample time for networking and learning about the Aura Partners' offerings. Partners include Label Traxx, UPM Raflatac, AB Graphic, Meech, RotoMetrics and 3M.
Attendees were encouraged to enter into the Xeikon "Selfie" contest via Twitter. Winners received a Belgian beer adorned with their custom "selfie" image.
