Keene Technology Inc. (KTI), a manufacturer of automatic splicers and turret rewinders, has announced that Quantum Design Inc. of Loves Park, IL, has taken new ownership of the company. KTI, originally founded in 1985 by John Keene, has decades of experience in developing splicing and rewinding equipment for the printing, packaging and converting industries.

Quantum Design Inc, a controls engineering and design firm that has an on-site panel building shop, has been in business since 1986 and is a leader in controls system automation. Quantum’s combination of engineering strength and control panel production experience and expertise will bring improvement to the KTI product lines, specifically to the controls installed on their machines.

As part of the ownership change, Danny Pearse has taken over as president and Dave Culvey has taken over as vice president of KTI. They currently serve as president and vice president of Quantum Design. They plan to keep the company in its current location in South Beloit, IL, and retain its current name, Keene Technology Inc, or KTI for short.

Pearse and Culvey’s plans for KTI include the development of new programs and improvement upon the current product lines. “We are very excited about the new opportunities at KTI under this change,” says Pearse comments, “Dave and I have been fortunate enough to be a part of different manufacturing and engineering companies over the years that have continuously exceeded our expectations. We are looking at this change as the ‘Beginning of a New Era’ for KTI and look forward to making improvements that will better the customer relationships as well as the overall product lines.”
