Sprague Wise was a long time member of TLMI and was vice president of TLMI for several years. He was instrumental in combining the Tag Division and the Label Division, creating today’s TLMI.
Sprague started with Wise Tag & Label Co., Inc. in 1957. He was instrumental in moving the company into the pressure sensitive business, purchasing some of the first Webtron label presses made. The founder delivered and installed the presses himself. Sprague was also instrumental in purchasing one of the first floor model Webtron 450s built.
Sprague became President and CEO of Wise Tag & Label Co., Inc. when his father Percival stepped aside and became the chairman of the company. Sprague served in this position until he was forced to retire due to health reasons in 2008. Sprague had been very active in the label community until his retirement. He was a fixture at the TLMI meetings and served on numerous committees and chaired the Finance Committee several times.
When not working, Sprague was usually found at a swim meet or some type of swimming function. Sprague served as vice president of Jersey Wahoos for several years right up to his passing. One project near and dear to his heart was the construction of a 50M training and competition center. This would better serve the athletes training in the current Wahoos facility. He was actively soliciting funds for the project at the time of his passing. Sprague also served for many years as the vice president of the Burlington County Council for the Boy Scouts of America.
