TLMI has announced that Portland, OR, USA-based Rose City Label has recently become LIFE Certified and that the company is the 49th facility to achieve TLMI LIFE Certification.
The LIFE program was developed in order to assist TLMI members in finding cost effective ways to reduce their companies’ environmental footprint. LIFE is a program designed specifically for the narrow web marketplace and addresses four key elements of the narrow web printing and converting industry: clean production, energy and greenhouse gases, product and environmentally preferable materials, and management practices.
Scott Pillsbury, Rose City Label president, says, “Project LIFE was a challenging, rewarding process for our company. As a small converter, we didn’t have many of the written policy letters required for the program, so we had to create all of these documents.
“On the very positive side, the program forced us to pay more attention to our waste and energy usage and share this information with all employees on a regular basis. Keeping this data in front of all our team members will help us reduce our waste as well as reminding everyone how important this goal is to our company. This formalized monitoring and sharing will probably be the best long term positive result of Project LIFE for our company.”
The LIFE program is focused for use by the narrow web label converting industry although it can be adopted by supplier companies.
