Codimag has released the VIVA 340 evolution, an offset press that serves as an alternative to digital presses.
The Aniflo technology combines the quality of offset with the simplicity of flexo and digital flexibility. With a 4-cylinder design (anilox, form roller, plate and blanket), the Aniflo eliminates the need for operator adjustments and provides a consistent and stable printing process. The printing result can be predicted before going on the press, and once on the press, the proof can be matched right away.
The minimum web width is 120mm, allowing for short runs in addition to a maximum allotted print width of 340mm. The VIVA 340 evolution holds a competitive price point, reducing investment costs, as well as production costs. Research shows the breakeven point of investment with digital is below 300 meters. The plates cost 1/10th of the cost of flexo plates without off-press plate-mounting equipment and tooling.
The low plate cost paired with the high level of press automation (50 mpm) make the evolution highly competitive for short and medium length runs. The traditional business model with a no click charge leaves an opening to run longer jobs more cost efficiently. The VIVA 340 evolution can run with a fixed set of inks (CMYK or expanded gamut) or with spot colors (PMS). The Aniflo inking system’s consistency allows for the implementation of a 4-color process and extended gamut printing, seen on a digital model.
