Primera Technology also offers the recently launched LX2000 color label printer, featuring large ink tanks for lower cost per label, pigmented ink to allow for more water and UV resistance, front color LCD control panel and wired/ethernet or wireless connection options. Other highlights include a viewing window for labelstock levels, built in “pizza-wheel” cutter and print speeds of up to 6 ips.

SPGPrints
SPGPrints’ modular DSI digital UV inkjet printer offers production speeds of up to 700m²/hour and is available in widths from 135mm to 530mm. The printing platform, with CMYK as standard, can be built or latterly extended with up to six more print heads. Options are orange and violet to make 90% of the Pantone color gamut achievable, digital white with “screen-look” opacity and digital primer to maximize substrate compatibility, while minimizing waste. Proprietary scratch/chemical-resistant UV inks contribute to photo quality and offer BWS-7 lightfastness, high gloss and 1% tonal values. The Xaar print head achieves an effective resolution of 1018dpi and a water-cooled chill drum enables processing of heat-sensitive substrates. The system can be specified as a standalone printer or a custom-built single-pass printing, finishing and converting line. Integration of any AB Graphic semi-rotary finishing technology is possible. Highlights include inline varnishing for an identical look to conventional print, foiling and laser diecutting, alongside conventional semi-rotary die-cutting and slitting. Esko Automation software, included as standard, ensures a fast, simplified prepress workflow.

Xeikon
Xeikon’s Cheetah, faster than any other model in its current press portfolio by 60%, is dedicated solely to self-adhesive/pressure sensitive label production and can output high quality labels at 98 fpm. It can handle substrate widths of up to 13 inches (330 mm) with a print resolution of 1,200 x 3,600 dpi. It utilizes full rotary printing where the press speeds are independent of the number of colors used and/or the repeat length of the job. Full rotary printing also makes finishing operations straightforward. The Cheetah offers the benefits native to the Xeikon 3000 Series, including the use of dry toners that meet FDA regulations for food contact and the ability to print opaque white toner in one pass. Xeikon presses are based on dry toner electrophotography. This enables the use of conventional substrates that do not have to be pre-treated. Xeikon presses incorporate professional color management capabilities, and the fifth station on the Xeikon Cheetah, which will be avilable in 2015, can be used to print gamut expansion colors or security toner. The press also includes automatic in-line register and density controls. The imaging width is up to 12.7 inches (322 mm) while the repeat length is variable from 0 – 180 ft (0 – 55 m). Media weights range from 40 gsm to 350 gsm.
