UPM Raflatac has announced the launch of 1.7 WG, a thin, white glassine liner custom-designed for VIP applications that utilize small rolls, such as weigh scale, bar code, shipping and hospital products labeling.
Labelstocks constructed with 1.7 WG enable converters and end users to optimize critical storage space, production and distribution processes. Converting companies can hold up to a third more inventory in the same warehouse space and run larger rolls on their presses. A typical job utilizing 1.7 WG enables converters to change rolls less often leading to significant press efficiencies, reduced staff labor and decreased liner waste compared to those using the industry standard 2.4 mil liner. Converted rolls also weigh less, allowing converters to reduce logistics costs by sending more labels with every shipment.
End users benefit by working with smaller rolls that hold more labels. This allows them to store and print labels more efficiently on-site using direct thermal or thermal transfer printers, an advantage in space-constrained retail, distribution and hospital environments.
Additionally, UPM Raflatac’s 1.7 WG products are ideal for fanfold applications, as the glassine liner provides the exceptional strength required to prevent perforations from tearing through.
”This thin paper liner is a game-changer for our industry,” says Linnea Keen, VIP business director, Americas, UPM Raflatac. “Our 1.7 WG products provide exceptional press performance, while also delivering considerable cost and productivity gains throughout their labelstock life cycles.”
To increase printers’ flexibility, UPM Raflatac offers 1.7 WG with a variety of facestocks and adhesives, and many of these products are available trimless at 10,000, 15,000 and 20,000 feet.
