Webtron presses, those ubiquitous work horses of the narrow web
industry, are making a return. Paper Converting Machine
Company (PCMC), of Green Bay, WI, acquired the Webtron
and Zigzag brands earlier this year and are now manufacturing
and marketing the flexographic printing machines.
PCMC has launched a careful but intense campaign to
reach out to Webtron owners and to potential new customers,
assuring them that the popular presses are now being
built by a stable company.
For 83 years, PCMC has manufactured machines
for converting and packaging. “We have a very good
global reputation in a lot of other industries,” says
Mark Gillis, VP of special products, who carries
overall executive responsibility for the Webtron
brand today. “Our rationale in acquiring these
brands was that we saw them participating in the
global packaging market. We are watching the
