American Die Technology has introduced the
Cassette Style Drop-In HotStamp Unit and the Platinum Rotary Cutting Die for printers.
The hot stamp unit ran on a Mark Andy press at the company’s booth during this year’s Labelexpo at the Rosemont Convention Center in Chicago. The unit utilizes an existing die station in any flexographic printing press when a job requires a hotstamped image. The unit can be quickly installed and removed from the press in order to allow the operator to use the die station for other applications when the unit is not required. This cassette style unit consists of eight integral parts: A control panel, a pressure equalization system with air assist, electric heat probe assembly, cooling air assist bar, rubber coated impression roller, temperature probe, journal/bearing, and spring assembly and registration dial.
The hot stamp unit provides increased opportunities for printers. “What it can do is open up new markets for the small label companies,” says David McLaughlin, the company’s technical support manager.
American Die Technology has also introduced the Platinum Rotary Cutting Die, with the ability to cut challenging materials, such as polyester, polypropylene, polyethylene and all paper applications. It has also been designed to cut through thick inks, such as water based and UV inks. The new Platinum die is a special processed tool steel die that is chrome plated for additional durability.
