Graphic Solutions buys EL lamp supplier
Graphic Solutions Inc. (GSI), of Burr Ridge, IL, has purchased the assets of BKL Inc., of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. BKL manufactures electroluminescent lamps (EL). GSI produces PS labels, aluminum nameplates, polycarbonate panels, RFID antennas, and thin and flexible batteries for micro-power source devices.
GSI is also a provider of EL products. According to President Suzanne Zaccone, “This was a strategic acquisition for us as it will strengthen our position within this product line through the equipment we have purchased.”
Founded in 1988, BKL serves the automotive, portable and hand-held electronics, consumer products, toy and novelty markets. BKL’s EL lamps can be found in products ranging from toys, night lights, clocks and watches, to mobile phones, PDAs, wireless devices and automotive instrument panels.
Bob Zaccone, GSI’s vice president, says the company plans to maintain the operation in King of Prussia for a few months, and then transfer it to Burr Ridge in the fall. The new division will be known as BKL, a Graphic Solutions Inc. company.
GSI is expanding its physical space by occupying its former plant, located down the street, in addition to its current facility. The original building was vacated five years ago and leased to another firm, which recently moved.
