Pitman Company recently held a prepress open house for Northeast Label Manufacturers Association (NELMA) members at its Totowa, NJ facility, featuring presentations from DuPont, Artwork Systems and Agfa. In addition to the presentations and a Pitman tour, members were also treated to an outdoor barbeque.
The presentations centered around prepress technologies. DuPont talked about the CromaPro inkjet color imaging line and Cyrel plate technology, offering special pricing packages to those present. Artwork Systems discussed ArtPro software and the Nexus prepress workflow. Agfa educated on film technologies and Point Light systems.
“With such a specialized show, you get a hands on look at what everybody is working on,” says Bill Melcher, graphic artist for Xode in Kutztown, PA, “But personally, it’s the networking that goes on at something like this that is invaluable.”
“I get to see the same people that do the same thing and go through the same day-to-day problems,” says Keith Ramos, production manager at Disc Graphics Inc. in Rockaway, NJ.
The growing association now has 32 member companies. The next meeting will be in September with featured speaker Miranda Graham, an expert on mergers and acquisitions in the label industry. For more information, contact Tom Spina at 732-886-
