Appleton acquires European secure printing provider
BemroseBooth of Derby has been acquired by Appleton, the Wisconsin based manufacturer of carbonless papers and substrates for non-impact printers and packaging products. It paid approximately $60 million for all of Bemrose Group’s shares. BemroseBooth employs nearly 850 people at manufacturing sites in Derby, Hull and Teesside in the UK. It provides secure and specialized print services, including variable data labeling, security printed vouchers and payment cards, mass transit and car parking tickets. It is also involved in direct mailing and niche publishing. Last year’s sales were worth around $100 million.
Doug Buth, Appleton’s chief executive officer, says the acquisition of BemroseBooth provides Appleton with immediate access to security product markets in the UK
