Ampersand Label acquired by WS Group
WS Packaging Group, the Wisconsin, USA based printing and converting conglomerate, has purchased the assets of Ampersand Label Inc., of Garden Grove, CA, USA.
Founded in 1979 by Lowell Matthews and John Fontana, Ampersand produced bar code printed materials. In 1985 its focus was redirected to the pressure sensitive market, and in 2000 it moved to its current manufacturing plant. Matthews remains at the Garden Grove facility, which is known for its MultiVision label product, an encapsulated label construction with a pull-tab release.
Ampersand has about 70 employees, who now are part of the 1,500-member WS work force.
“The addition of Ampersand Label broadens our capabilities in the booklet and pharmaceutical market, as well as expands our West Coast presence with extra production capacity and technology,” says Terry Fulwiler, chairman of WS Packaging Group.
