A three-day open house in Elgin, IL, in November marked the official opening of AB Graphic International’s new Midwest facility. The event drew 151 representatives from 68 companies in the industry.
Live presentations from Hewlett Packard, Avery Dennison’s RFID Division, Advanced Vision Technology and AB Graphic International were among the highlights of the event. Representatives from RotoMetrics, Raflatac, Grafisk Maskinfabrik, Esko-Graphics, Sun Chemical, Kocher + Beck and Yazoo Mills also participated.
Presesntation topics covered RFID and related converting technology, turret rewinding, converting, and 100 percent inspection rewinding, with an emphasis on digital printing and converting using the latest technology from Hewlett Packard and AB Graphic International’s Digicon range of products.
Guest speakers included Paul Mulcahey, a label converter from Digital Dogma, who addressed key factors for successful digital converting; and Steve Hill from Daymark Food Safety Systems, speaking on turret rewinders and how the Vectra range of turrets has met the company’s needs for increased productivity.
“The event bore all the hallmarks of a truly beneficial promotion for us,” said Al Spendlow, VP operations for AB Graphic International USA. “Increased exposure to our products during the open house has since seen more than double the orders taken when compared with those taken over the same time period in previous years.
